Landscapes which appear to be naturalistic prove on closer inspection to be almost naive and uncanny.

The paintings are more concerned with issues of perception than with the depiction of an idea of
landscape as such. They question what we actually see and how we are to make sense of it. Trees and
foliage are transformed into figures, branches are choreographed into messages and creatures hide under
piles of branches.
